My newest Fitness Fun Find is the book The Flex Diet by James Beckerman. I received this book from winning a giveaway on FitBlog.
Overall I was very happy with this book. I am on a fitness and weightloss MARATHON journey and am struggling to lose these dreaded last few pounds to reach my happy, healthy goal weight. I found Beckerman’s personalized approach to weightloss appealing and totally doable. Beckerman shares an easy to use approach to lose 20 pounds 200 different ways!
The 200 different ways to lose 20 pounds is totally up to YOU and your personality. Many of the tips and tricks are common sense (drink water, find a support system, keep a food diary, wear a pedometer, and more).
He breaks up his plan into three phases; a two week period covering what you can do “Today” and three weeks of tips for “Every Day.” Once you have established those tips you move on to long term options called “Your Way.”
Today’s ideas include finding resources TODAY like a weightloss buddy or joining a support group.
Every day ideas include specific activities under the topics: Eat, Drink, Exercise, Act and Live.
Your way ideas discuss a range of exercise choices and even dining techniques to eat less.
Like all dietand weight loss programs, it is all about choice and change. Beckerman offers a flexible plan and a GRIP of ideas that you can choose to customize to fit your taste and lifestyle.
I think this is a great quickread for someone who is needing a kick start to their fitness and weightloss routine. This book is very informative with great tips and techniques to help you lose weight.
Of course, you must CHANGE your behaviors if you want to see the CHANGE on the scale.
However, many of these ideas (today, every day and your way) are common knowledge. Most people know that you cannot eat and drink whatever you want while being a couch potato to lose weight and feel great. One must flex their muscles and make positive changes (that Beckerman discusses in the book) to your life to see the change you seek.
This book will not guarantee success from JUST reading it. You must DO (and ultimately change your behavior) what Beckerman shares if you want to see the number on the scale drop.
