My parents arrived late Tuesday night, only to surprise the boys the next morning with their presence. Yesterday we spent the morning at a local park playing and hiking the river trail. I wish I had my camera to share pics – but I didn’t take any.
However, I am excited to share with you our day two of spending quality time with the grandparents… adventure in Chico, CA.
We decided to spend the day in Chico and visit a local exotic wildlife refuge. They had many tigers, tigons, ligers, lemurs, black bears, and more!
The crazy thing is how close we were able to view these majestic animals! They were in fenced cages… and then about 5 feet from their cage was another chain link fence separating US from THEM.
This particular tiger must have been hungry, because every time one of my boys walked past her cage she preyed on them. She would pace her fence starring down whichever child walked by… then attempt to pounce at the corner of her cage as if to EAT them!
Needless to say, my heart stopped multiple times on this visit… and I wanted to make sure I had a close eye on my children at ALL TIMES!
In typical children fashion, the boys were none the wiser. The enjoyed looking at the animals, playing in the dirt (not part of the tour), and pretending to be lions, monkeys and bears themselves.
It was a great family adventure… even if the lions and tigers were trying to EAT MY CHILDREN!!
After our animal adventure, we spent the afternoon at Bidwell Park letting off some steam and wiggles. Again, I did not bring my camera – darn – but much fun was had swinging, sliding, running, and pretending to be pirates.
We ended the fun day with dinner at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. TheMan and I love local breweries and this has excellent food and beer. The boys did excellent considering they were wiped from a fun outdoor adventure and it was a sit down restaurant. I enjoyed a nice crisp Summerfest beer and a salad w/ chicken. Yummy!
We had a great fun day sightseeing, hiking, eating, and spending quality time as a family (grandparents and my little family). Great day!

Hey Friend! I had to giggle at the pouncing. It reminded me of the time we went to our local zoo and one of the buffalo charged to electric fence because one of my boys was wearing red and staring the buffalo down. Funny now, but at the time my heart stopped.
