What a fantastic Sunday! We spent our morning at church listening to yet another great sermon from Pastor Bill.
We spent the remainder of the day enjoying the sunshine, beautiful temperatures (mid-upper 70’s), and fresh air.
I snuck out mid afternoon (after nursing Tristen to sleep for his nap) for a quick 5K to add to my JoggerMom Marathon challenge this month.
I felt like I was struggling the first part of my run, and had I known I was going that fast and was going to PR (personal record/best) I would have pushed harder! I still had some left at the end of my run… and could have set a better record. I think that will be my challenge this month – to keep pushing and challenging myself to set new records!
5K: 26:10 (an average 8:26 min/mile pace)
I really think my strength routine is what is helping me improve my time/speed with my runs! Double bonus with that – firm, tone AND get faster!!
While the boys rode their bikes, threw balls, fought imaginary villains with their sticks, I busted out my last day (3) of Week 3’s Strength Challenges:
Push-Ups (bars) | 16 – 21 – 15 – 15 – 21 |
Squats | 30 – 38 – 22 – 22 – 40 |
Lunges | 20 – 20 – 20 – 20 – 20 |
Sit – Ups | 33 – 42 – 30 – 30 – 45 |
The evening fell by the wayside, TheMan was called into work (on his vacation I might add), so I did the whole solo parenting gig – with three very tired and cranky kids.
I am thankful for my run… because otherwise my behavior would not have been the most Mother of the Year worthy.
Faith: I am really digging my new study, Made to Crave! Today’s discussion is asking yourself, “What is really going on here!?”
We tend to think of a craving as a weakness, something that compels us to eat something that probably isn’t the healthiest choice. But what if our ability to desire – to crave – is something that could draw us closer to God? Would it change the way you think about craving?
I am still working through my cravings and dissecting the WHO and WHY and WHAT of my cravings… with the hopes that I crave God and my relationship with Him over food.
What types of things do you crave? (Food? Fame? Other?)

I agree that strength training makes a difference. I really credit my strength base in helping me run easier than I would have expected. 🙂

Way to go, Rachel! Yes, strength training is SO important! I’m learning that too.
I like that thought of craving something (Someone!) that is good for me. That is good food for thought – thank you for sharing that!
