This past week was a very busy and productive week. I think I can proudly share that I have found my mojo and am on a roll with my fitness routine.
I have joined joggermom who is hosting a virtual marathon for the month of May. It is my goal to run 26.2 miles this month as fast as I personally can. I would love to eventually run a real marathon someday (sooner rather than later) and this virtual event is giving me an idea of what I am capable of.
I am also participating in the #dosomething challenge {being active atleast 20 minutes each day for the month of May} and having success with it. I love knowing that I need to do something every day, and it is holding me accountable with my fitness goals.
Total REPETITIONS of my STRENGTH this week:
Push-Ups | 340 |
Squats | 576 |
Lunges | 300 |
Sit-Ups | 633 |
Curious about incorporating both cardio AND strength training!? Check out my post about Running & Strength for more information!!
Also, is one of your excuses for not getting started with your fitness routine, “I don’t have a gym membership.” or “I don’t own a treadmill or exercise equipment.” Guess what!? You are in luck, neither do I! Check out my personal gym!
I am reading and following a Bible study called, Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst, and am really loving how it is forcing me to get to the root issues of my cravings and food issues. I am doing the study with my church and also online (via text and emails with my friend, Kimberly).
My weight this week is back down to 143.2. I have lost 1 lb since last week’s weigh-in.
The exciting thing about this part of my journey – and perhaps it is my current mind shift – is that the number on the scale doesn’t really matter to me, right now.
I know that I need to get to the root of the issue of my binging (eating issues) in order for me to be successful with my fitness and weightloss goals. I have the need to and am now making the brain shift to REALLY commit to the WANT TO change.
It is SO liberating to be doing something for ME… not for someone else. I am focusing on ME and MY needs (physically, spiritually, emotionally) and am fully ready to embark upon the new changes.

What challenges are YOU participating in to keep you motivated, inspired, and active!?

I love the 20 min a day #dosomething challenge. That makes it seem reasonable to get activity in. I think I am going to start incorporating that into my daily routine, thanks. I’m interested in your bible study to. I just started reading & doing 31 days to clean getting a Martha house the Mary way. Its been very helpful as a starting point for me to connect and make changes in the way I have been thinking. Thanks for the info. Congrats and good luck with these changes & adventures this month.

Totally with you, Rachel. It took me until like 5 minutes ago to figure out how i feel is more important than the number on the scale. And right now? I feel great. Keep up the great attitude!

Yay for the finding of the mojo! That #dosomething challenge sounds like a great way to get activity in. Keep up the great work, and have a wonderful week!

Congrats on the loss! You are definitely inspiring. One of my friends always uses those excuses and I work out at home as well. Excuses are like a—holes. Everyone has one 🙂 Love your post

Congrats on finding your weight loss and getting your mojo back. I am not doing any formal challenges. I am doing joggermom, but I was running anyway. I am crossfitting this month again so I guess that is like a challenge (with wonderful motivation when you are paying for it.) I plan to crossfit through June.

I am doing joggermom and was running anyway… but it is a fun way to stay motivated and encouraged each week! 🙂
Way to go with crossfit! I woudl love to try it, but am still weighing the cost factor of it. 🙂

You amaze me weekly! So happy to hear you found your mojo and seems like everything is falling into place. I am working on the joggermom challenge also and also have a secret desire to try my hand at a real half marathon in the future.
Have another great week! Love your continued inspiration and postive outlook on life and health.
Rachel says
You are awesome! Personally, I think the half marathon is my favorite distance (granted it is the LONGEST race distance I have raced). It is a bit intimidating, yet you feel so accomplished afterwards. AND walking is totally acceptable and normal! 🙂 You can do it!!
Heck, I would drive up to OR (near Eugene?? to run one with you!) :wink wink nudge nudge:

Hey Friend! Yay for mojo! I am going to have to read your Running and Strength post today! I finished my 5K and now I want to find out how to improve my speed and endurance and I have a feeling strength training will help me get there. Thank you, by the way, for all the support you have given me over the past few months and your running tips have really helped me embrace running! {{HUGS}}

Wow!! You ran 25 miles this week? I’m not worthy!! [bowing down]
Very happy that you’re feeling good about the program you’re doing with Kimberly! WOOP!
Congrats on the pound too.
Rachel says
LoL Thanks, Greta! 🙂 I must admit… getting out to run/walk is very easy for me when the sun is shining and the weather is nice. ALSO… when the kiddos are CRAZY-WAYZY it is UBER easy for me to get out to run. LOL
