A few weeks ago, a few girlfriends and I decided to purchase and begin The Love Dare devotional, challenge, book together. Our marriages were in a good place… but we were curious to see if/how/when it could improve.
I actually had the best of intentions to do the love dare on my children, as I was really struggling to share the love with them during the crazy day. But I was amazed at how much I really benefited from doing this challenge on my husband – even if it was not my original intention.
What an adventure these last 40 days of reading the book has been. Granted, this dare is created for spouses (some day challenges are NOT for children) but the devotion BEFORE the challenges are what has really taught me life lessons.
I think the biggest challenges were the first 10 days of the book. For me, the biggest challenges were say nothing negative and go out of your way to do something self-less to show love. I never realized how much of a negative nelly nag I can be, nor how selfish I really really am.
I found this book and its challenges to be worthwhile, challenging, and worth the effort. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for ways to find that spark in their marriage again. Heck, it is great for anyone wanting to bless their spouse with love of their actions.
I really like this book, and plan on picking it up from time to time to challenge myself again and again … it is always good to remember to choose love… Dare to Love.
Disclosure: I purchased the book on my own and the opinions are 100% my own.
