There are an abundance of parks, trails, and activities to do in Sacramento. So many in fact, it is hard to pick and choose which one to explore first! Living here never is boring, and there is always something fun to go and do (outdoors).
We decided to explore the splash pad and park at Stephenson Family Park in Elk Grove, The boys and I met a friend and her two boys. This park was amazingly fun! We spent over FOUR hours at this park! We actually had to set the timer to get the kids to leave… just so my friend wouldn’t hit traffic on her way home. Super Fun Park!
It is a cute park nestled in a quiet neighborhood on the south side of town. This park had many different areas to keep a family entertained for a few hours!
It has two play areas. One playground was from the little guys (2-5 years) that was completely fenced in. It had a climbing structure, slide, monkey bars, sand pit and more fun climbing and spinning toys to engage their young brains.
The second, main, play area was where my guys spent most of their time. There were climbing structures, slides, swings, and even a super cool sliding contraption!
The main event was the splash pad. The boys kept going back and forth between the play areas and the water (whenever they would get hot I assume).
Not only does this park have play areas, it also has a cute gravel trail that goes around the park and through the cute neighborhood. The boys and I explored a seasonal creek, and even walked on the backside of the park to find a fun fitness circuit station. I am not sure if the fitness station was geared more for adults or children, but I know the boys got the biggest kick out of working out to get big muscles just like daddy.
There is a great baseball field, shaded pavilions, bathrooms, water fountains and more. The boys and I had a great time exploring one of our local parks and plan on returning again soon.
I had a great time reconnecting with an old friend, watching our boys connect and form friendships, and enjoying the sunshine (too much sun). What a great day!!

Wow, what an awesome play area! That looks like you all had so much fun! We’ll have to test that out when we are in the city!
