When I was younger, growing up my sisters and I spent many many weekends at the lake on my parents boat. We tubed, sun tanned, and swam. As a child I didn’t truly appreciate how good I had it. I took it for granted.
As a mom of three young boys, I love their sense of adventure. They love going on Papaw’s boat and pretending to be pirates. Heck, their sense of adventure surpasses mine as adult (and even my wild side as a teenager!).
My dad, Papaw, loves to drive fast! That fact made this Mama Bear’s heart skip a beat more than once while on the lake. However, all three boys squealed with delight demanding Papaw drive faster… longer… and go over the bumps! All the while Mama had a firm grasp on whichever child was sitting next to her and keeping an eye on the other two.
The boys ultimate favorite thing to do while on the boat was what they coined, Tippies! They giggled and squealed with sheer pleasure when Papaw drove in a figure eight pattern in a large cove. They thought it was the ultimate fun!
We spent a lot of time in the water, exploring new (to us) coves. We raced around the boat, did many cannon balls and just enjoyed the refreshing coolness of the lake.
The boys took turns driving the boat. Even Tristen had his turn (although he wouldn’t attempt it while it was in motion). He preferred relaxing in the captains chair while sipping a nice cold Capri Sun… taking the wheel with his feet.
What a fun filled adventure at the lake with family. My boys made memories, had a blast and are already asking when they can come back to ride on the boat again!
