I love Thanksgiving. It is one of my favorite holidays. This day is filled with family, yummy food, a FUN fitness (turkey trot race or my family’s tradition of flag football).
This morning, I met up with three friends and we hit a local trail for our own 10K Turkey Trot. It was crazy hilly (for me) and these girls are wicked fast! I struggled with the mental mindset during my run, because I just wanted to give up. These girls were gracious and kind, and even allowed me to walk a few times. This mama was very thankful for that. I found it was a great way to kick start my day of thanks. I am thankful for new running friends. I am thankful for my health and my running legs.
On the flip side of being thankful for health and my running legs. I am super thankful for nice, clean, fresh tennis balls to roll my heels. Yes, they are not loving me again. I need to find some supportive cross training shoes… because after yesterday’s crazy R.I.P.P.E.D. class my heels were in pain. Crazy how that works out.
I come home from my run to enjoy my family fun day. My husband spent most of the morning/day smoking his turkey – his experiment. The boys played happily with each other.
Because we live so far from family (his parents are up in Washington, mine are back in Missouri), we celebrated Thanksgiving on our own – with our own little family. Not to miss out on all the yummy food, we prepared a Thanksgiving feast to be thankful for. Have I mentioned that I love to eat?
I would have taken a photo of our food spread, but I am not a food blogger. Each time I think to remember to take a photo of my food… I realize my plate is empty. Trust me, my dinner was delicious!
