The year is quickly winding down and it is time to reflect upon the previous year. Today I am going to share my running experience from this past year. It wasn’t heavy on the races, but I learned a lot about myself and what I am able to accomplish.
Best race experience?
My best race experience this year was when I ran the San Francisco Nike Women’s Half Marathon. It was by far the most fun I have had while running a race! I had a smile on my face for most of the run!
The crowds were supportive and FUNNY. The women (and men) running were inspirational. It was super crowded, which meant that the competitive spirit was always strong while running.
The hills were tough… but the Tiffany necklace and handsome firemen dressed in tuxedoes was worth it.
Worst race experience?
I had the privilege of running in the California International Marathon relay with three awesome lady friends on December 2nd. The weather was not so great, but the memory of experience was great.
I hate to classify this as one of the worst race experiences of 2012 … but running in ankle deep flooding against the side ways rain from the wind… while tackling the rolling hills for 7 miles makes for a challenging experience.
Best new piece of gear?
I love new running gear! My best new running gear was either my new Brooks Running shoes or when I received the new Inspire For Women Yurbuds.
Best piece of running advice you received?
Most inspirational runner?
I honestly think that each and EVERY runner is an inspiration to me! When I see them out on the trail (or street) running… it motivates ME to want to get out there and run also! Runners who are MOM’s really REALLY inspire me, because as a MOM who RUNS… I totally KNOW why they are running.
If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be?
Fun Finding Me! ~ It has been fun re-finding the ME in ‘Mommy’ with my racing and running this year!
Running ups:
I am proud of my post-kid PR for the half marathon (NWM 2012). I am proud that I kept moving and continue to challenge myself with my running goals. I am proud that I am beginning to LOVE strength training (where I used to totally ignore weights and strength).
Running downs:
Plantar fasciitis hurts and this is definitely one of my biggest injuries and hurdles to overcome with my running. Thank goodness for a nice fresh tennis ball to roll my feet and heels!
Surprise of the year:
Winning the lottery and being sponsored by FItFluential and Yurbuds to win entry to run the Nike Women’s half Marathon this past October!!

I actually ran the Seaside Oregon Marathon many years ago. It was tough and I came in near last but I finished it. I’m getting back in shape now (lost 43 lbs in 2012) and I’m thinking about running again. Reading this blog really is giving me some inspiration.

Mom’s who run inspire me too. I think that’s why I like your blog so much. We mom’s must make it a priority to run. With so many demands on our time it’s important to take time for ourselves. I LOVE the peace my morning runs provide me. You are such an inspiration to keep going in the next year.

What a great recap. I have felt like I found ME this year through running too. I have 4 year old twins and running really allows me to be a better mom.
