Happy New Year! With the new year I am choosing a new word to focus on. Last year I focused on peace. I chose to find peace with the scale (I am still learning this skill), peace with my circumstances, and peace with struggles. Peace is something that I am still working on, but it was a great way to remember that I am not in control, and that I am to choose peace.
My word of of the year is balance. Life is crazy busy. I must admit, my life and my priorities are all out of whack. I need balance. I am choosing to focus on balance in 2013.
Learning to find balance in my faith. I want to make my faith and me growing and learning a priority in my life. Seeking to find balance in my life by choosing to put Him first. I know that when I spend time with the Lord, my day will seemingly fall into place… balance.
Making time for and spending quality time with my family. Learning the delicate balance of teaching independence and togetherness as a family. Balance.
Finding the balance in my fitness training plan and goals. I am hoping to find the balance between my love of running, goal of adding new sporting conquests and adding strength (crossfit) to my fitness plans.
I love food. I am going to try to balance my love of food and learning portion control. Learning, growing, and applying healthy living recipes, nutrition skills, and ideas in my kitchen. Applying those healthy living skills with food for myself and my family. Balance.
Learning the art of balancing FUN with productivity. My type of personality is usually all business or go-go-go all the time. OR completely on the flip side total goof ball full of fun. I am going to try to find a balance to laugh more. Find joy during my day. Balance the FUN and functionality for my day.
Most importantly, I am going to learn balance in trying to accomplish my never-ending to-do list while homeschooling the three little boys. Balance. Trying to fit in fitness, faith, quality time with family, FUN and still find some ME time… all while teaching, educating, and being a role model to my three little boys. Balance.
I am going to try to not look over the fence to see their green grass. I know that if I do, I will not appreciate where God has me at this moment. I will see other families acting like their life is perfect. I will see my friends with their kids in public school, and wonder if I made the right choice. I will see my friends who homeschool their children, and wonder if we made the right choice. I would always wonder how other mom’s get everything done. I would never be content.
I am going to choose to appreciate what I have so that there will never be room for more. The key lies in balance between contentment and ambition.
I am choosing to focus on finding balance in 2013. I am always running. Yet, this year, I will be running with balance for faith, family, fitness, food, and fun!! All while maintaining my sanity, my joy and peace while homeschooling my three sons. Balance.

Balance is my word of the year too! I want to do everything and do it well. I’ve been slacking in some areas of my life and need to find harmony between all my loves. Good luck to you!

I too am searching for balance in 2013. My action is meditation time. I find when I meditate regularly I’m able to balance everything better. I’m nicer to my husband, I’m more productive and feel less stressed about taking time for myself.

I need to learn the art of meditation. I tried a mid afternoon yoga class (at my gym) once… and I was so refreshed afterwards. The deep breathing. Quiet atmosphere. It was really helpful to re balance and recharge. 🙂
How do you meditate and when do you find the time?
Pamela Hernandez says
Just like anything I have to put it on my to do list to make it happen. In 2013 the goal is 4x a week. I use podcasts for guided meditations. I like Meditation Station and Mediation Oasis.

Balance! I could use a bit of that. I love that you take the time to really focus on finding what you need in life. Cheers to 365 of balance!

I think balance is a great goal for the year. I could certainly use it for my word too. It is difficult to find balance between work and family, fitness and relaxation, sleep and, well everything.
