This afternoon, as I was laying by the pool, totally rocking my bikini thank.you.very.much, I was overcome with emotion. I am blessed. I have so much to be thankful for.
It is hot as heck here in northern California! I am super thankful for a working air conditioner! Although I am not looking forward to the electric bill next month!
I am super thankful for fresh clean drinking water! Not many people in this world are fortunate to go to their faucet and drink pure clean drinking water!
I am super thankful for a lovely gym that has a fantastic pool for me to use to cool down (all while letting the boys get their wiggles out… while staying cool).
I am thankful that I am healthy and have an able body to move, run, jump, handstand and play. This morning (bright and early – 6AM) I met up with a group of crazy early runners to beat the heat. We sported red, white and blue. We were a colorful little crew!
We started out with 7 runners. The fast girls set out to run 10 miles. I even had that distance in mind – then reconsidered. However, the heat, humidity, head cold, lack of sleep and just plain old lack of running training I opted to bring in the rear and only run 7 miles.
I had a great time running with the 7 mile crew, Yvonne and Christina. We enjoyed a comfortable run/walk and great conversation. We even had fun busting out handstands and toe touches (who knew I could still do one!?)
Maybe next year (in addition to?) instead of handstand Friday, we can do a toe touch Thursday?!? And we all can work on our power jumps from our youth! j/k
We started out as 7 runners and we ended up picking up many more (at the turn around point) for a fun, festive, Independence Day Run! Good times. Happy Running!
This afternoon was spent chasing the littles at the park, picking black berries, swimming at the pool and of course… getting ice cream at Baskin Robbins. Yum! Sometimes we deserve a little sweetness in our day and ice cream is always welcomed.
I am thankful for my country and my freedoms. I am thankful that I am able to express my religious beliefs, homeschool my children, run with friends, and oh so much more!
A fun filled day (and an early start) means an early bedtime for all in our household. Which means no fire works for us.
Even though the boys and I will not be enjoying the fireworks tonight… I wanted to share my thankful thoughts this Independence Day.
I am thankful for YOU! Because of YOU I am more motivated to stay active and determined to reach my goal! YOU rock!

Rachel, this is a GREAT post! You struck a chord with me on one of the things I was reflecting on this morning after my bible devotion. Religious freedom. I’m so thankful to be able to talk freely, openly and sing it loud & proud about our mighty God!
Blessed by all of you as well~ So thankful God has put us all in this special connection.
Happy 4th to you & all your boys from a mama of 3 boys!!

Looks like you had an amazing day! Yes – we have so many things to be thankful for every.single.day. I had a blast tonight playing “spider monkeys” in the pool, then cuddling up for bed time reading. Happy 4th of July!
