Another crazy, busy, wild week here in Sacramento! One would think that summer would mean cool, calm, and chill.. but the total opposite has been true for our family. It has been a whirl wind of fun activities all summer long! There are many things to share with you of things that I am loving this week! I hope you enjoy little glimpses into my life.
faith
I found this great image on pinterest the other day. I love how it simply shares that we are in this struggle together. As a wife, mother, Christian, runner, blogger… PERSON… we all struggle with something at sometime in our life. Our journey may be different… yet our paths are the same. We are all in this journey together. We all struggle with something. As a community, a family, a group we can help each other with our struggles… together.
We need to continue to press on toward our goal. We must forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead. God has a goal for each of us… we need to keep pressing on and keep our eyes fixed heavenward. You are not alone in this battle dear one! I find comfort in knowing that I am not alone!
family
This week I have been solo parenting (my husband is away on a business trip). I give kudos to all you single parents out there. It is hard work. I am just thankful that my boys go to bed early… because they play so hard all.day.long!
The thing I am loving lately regarding family, is the middle of the night and early morning snuggles I have been sharing with my youngest. My bed is big and empty… but he feels the need to fill that void with his little 3 year old body. He snuggles right next to me and when he is ready to wake (not necessarily Me!)… he gently caresses my face and looks lovingly at me. I love our morning snuggle sessions.
fitness
I shared the news over on facebook and even yesterday when I shared my speed work mis-adventure… but I am going to be crossing off a huge fitness bucket list item of mine this December! I will be running my first full marathon with a girlfriend. We will be running the California International Marathon!
My friend, Christina (who I will be training and running with), met up with me and we mapped out a game plan for our training. Our goal is very similar. We both want to cross the finish line injury free, happy, healthy, and loving the run. We have a time goal… and a happy goal time. Nothing crazy like a BQ, but our main focus is crossing that finish line with a smile on our face!
food
One of my new girlfriends from Bible study invited the boys and I over to her house to pick fruit. She said that her trees were bursting with fruit and would love for my boys (and me) to help her pick fruit to eat, enjoy, and share! We of course took her up on the offer!
We filled many bags of peaches, apples, pears, nectarines and apricots. The boys (and Mommy’s) tummy has been very happy… and I am even considering breaking out my canning supplies to preserve all our yummy fruit!
fun
The boys and I ventured to the Sacramento Zoo yesterday. We had loads of fun. What was a surprise blessing was that it was Wels Fargo Day, children get in free! Free is awesome. What was even more awesome was that there was free popcorn, snow cones, water, and more! This frugal mom loved all the free fun that was had at the zoo today!
The boys and Mom had a great time checking out the animals. Our favorite animal exhibit was the chimpanzees. We had a great time watching them swing around and chase each other. We had many giggles. Even though we all were exhausted at the end of our day, we are excited to return again soon.
