This past year has been an amazing running year. Since moving to Sacramento a year and a half ago, I have met some amazing mother runner friends who have encouraged and challenged me to run more races than I typically do in a year. The year 2013 in running has been an amazingly epic running and racing year for me.
This past year of running and racing has challenged me physically and mentally. I am stronger. I am faster. I am mentally tougher than I was the year prior. The year 2013 and my running has reminded me that I love running and that I am stronger than I give myself credit for.
I am strong enough to run two crazy overnight endurance relays… which I loved and can’t wait to run more! I physically and mentally strong to run my first full marathon. I love running again. 2013 was a good year.

Ragnar Relay Southern California
Avenue of the Vines half marathon
Ragnar Relay Napa Valley
Rock N Roll San Jose
Historic Clarksburg 20 Miler
California International Marathon
The running and racing goals for 2014 are not set in stone at this point. I do know that I will be running my second full marathon in March at the LA Marathon. Yes, I am a bit crazy like that and have been bitten by the marathon bug pretty hard.
My running goals for 2014 are to run, have fun, run faster, run smarter and challenge myself to go beyond what is comfortable.
Running and Racing Goals for 2014
January 27 – EG 5K Fun Run (with my oldest?)
March 9 – LA Marathon
April 6 – Running of the Elk half marathon
April 19 – Color Me Rad 5K
May 18 – Avenue of the Vines half marathon
June 8 – Sacramento Women’s Festival half marathon
July 11 – Ragnar Relay Tahoe Trail
September – Ragnar Relay Napa Valley
October – Urban Cow half marathon
November – Historic Clarksburg 20 Miler
December – California International Marathon (full or relay?)
The above race list is what I would like to run. The only races I have committed to running are the LA Marathon and the 5K Color Me Rad. The other races are on my goal list. Who knows what will actually happen next year, or what races I run that are not listed. Basically I am excited about challenging myself, learning what I can do, and running more than ever! Bring on 2014!

I’m running the LA marathon too! It’s my first full.
Also on my list so far: San Francisco Hot Chocolate 15k (Jan), Sacramento Girls on the Go half marathon (Mar), Fremont Mermaid 18 miler (May), and possibly the Napa Ragnar relay in Sept. I will fill in the rest of the year as it goes. I’m excited for 2014!

Your list has inspired me to get to work on my 2014 race goals. All I have planned is the Mercedes Half Marathon in Birmingham, Al in February, so far. I should probably get on that!
Rachel says
Awesome!! You totally can do this! What plan will you be following to train for the half?

Yes! My ‘eyes are bigger than my stomach’ when it comes to planning for races. 😉 I still need to discuss these runs and training with my husband. LOL
