Sometimes, as a mom, we just need a moms’ night out. A night to let our hair down and just be women, girlfriends, and a mom without her children around. I needed a moms’ night out.
Thankfully a few of my girlfriends did too, and we got together to enjoy a funny movie, great conversation and dessert. I got to choose the movie (since we were celebrating my birthday – Birthday Girl!). We watched Moms’ Night Out. We even had the whole theater to ourselves (well, most of it).
It has been ages since I have seen a movie in a theater. Actually, I think the last time I saw a movie was on a previous girls night and it was The Proposal… does that tell you how often I get out!? This mama needed to de-stress, laugh, and just be Rachel… with her friends.
After the movie, we went to Letherby’s to enjoy dessert. We shared this enormous banana split. It was yummy. No guilt. Ya gotta live your life and enjoy life… even if that means eating yummy ice-cream with girlfriends.
I love this scene between Bones and the main character. So often, we as mom’s (with the pressure of social media and society today) are too busy comparing ourselves with others. We don’t feel worthy. We feel like we are failing… our marriage, our children, God, and others. But in reality… we just need to be who God created us to be. Just Be You.
I really REALLY enjoyed this movie. It is a good clean movie. Clean humor that all moms can relate to. I would compare this movie to Bridesmaids (or Hangover) but without the violence, crass, and poor language. It is good clean humor… that speaks to a mama’s weary and tired heart.

I haven’t had a mom’s night out in forever! But I do kind of feel like my run dates with my BRF are like mom’s night out in a way. We get to run and just talk about life. It’s pretty much perfect!

I LOVE those friend/run dates! I haven’t had one of those since last fall when I was training for CIM (my first full marathon). I agree… those dates are amazing when you can just run and talk about life. 🙂

I can’t remember my last “moms night out” sadly…although I have had many date nights out:) will that count? LOL
Rachel says
Haha! Yes, that would count. I honestly don’t get out much… with girlfriends OR my husband. 😉

Our women’s ministry group went & I missed it because of a baby shower – but they loved it.
I HATE your theater wasn’t full – or at least had SOME people in it. I wanted this movie to do well! 🙁
Rachel says
Yes, me too… but I think that good clean humor/movies don’t do as well… but I LOVED IT! Everyone who saw it loved it! 🙂 I think there was a bigger crowd there the week prior to us seeing it (because it had been out a few days). 🙂

Sounds like a great movie! I go for a mom’s night out to go country line dancing once a month, and get together with my neighbour to watch The Big C every Saturday afternoon (we let the kids destroy our basements while we relax and watch our show 🙂 ). Have a great week!

Country line dancing sounds like fun! I used to do that in college. 🙂 What is The Big C show?
