A few weeks ago, I ventured into the big city of San Francisco for a SITS mini-blogging boot camp sponsored by Invisalign. While there I learned a lot about nearly invisible braces for teens and pre-teens. I was able to meet some amazing local-ish bloggers and learn something new. It was a great time. Today I want to share with you the straight talk on straight teeth with Invisalign.
Growing up, I never had braces. I wanted braces. I wanted to come to school sporting my multi-colored teeth. Yes, I wanted braces AND glasses. It seemed that everyone had them and I had to have them too. Sigh. Unfortunately, only the glasses thing worked out for me. Which now I would eagerly say no thank you to… but having perfectly straight teeth… I would STILL say yes!
As a mom to three young, active, handsome little boys… I want to make sure that their teeth and smile are taken care of. I don’t want them to ever feel embarrassed about their teeth, smile, or look. I want them to be confident to always laugh and smile without abandon.
Invisalign Teen virtually invisible braces straighten teeth without traditional wires and brackets giving teens the confidence to live life to the fullest while improving their smile. These virtually invisible aligners, mean there is less social awkwardness to impact their confidence and self-esteem during an already hard and vulnerable age.
I love that there is no need for those using Invisalign to hold back or feel that they are missing out on anything when straightening their teeth. They can play sports without fear of injury and continue with their hobbies and passions they enjoy!
What I also like about the Invisalign Teen clear aligners are that they are removable and can straighten teeth without a mouth full of metal and all the disruption and sacrifice that comes with it. It is removable, brushing and flossing is easy and there is no food restrictions to worry about.
You can eat these traditional naughty items while being treated with Invisalign. This is great news for people, like my boys, who love popcorn, beef jerky and fresh fruit and veggies!!
Check out this massively detailed infographic that explains the smart path to straightening your kid’s teeth.
I love that the almost invisible braces cost is comparable to traditional braces and many insurance plans cover Invisalign just as they would braces.
My boys are just now starting to lose their baby teeth, but I am keeping all this helpful information shelved for future reference. I want them to always have a beautiful smile and to have the confidence to continue smiling throughout life.

My teeth are still getting more crooked as I age.. fun stuff…

I find that to be true for me too. I asked my dentist if she thought it was because my wisdom teeth were crowding my teeth. ?? I would LOVE to have invisalign for ME! 🙂

We just started looking into braces for our kiddo, even though I’d love (and need!) to get my own grill straightened. 😉
Rachel says
Me too! 🙂

I just turned 39 and also just finished my 18 month Invisalign treatment. Never had braces as a child or teen, but needed them as an adult due to bite/grinding issues. They were easy, not too painful, and hardly noticeable. Being a 6th grade teacher, my students notice everything and are quick to comment on it. They always said that they could barely tell when I was wearing my aligners, and only noticed that my speech was a little “off” when I first used a new set. All in all I highly recommend them!
Rachel says
I had no idea, Erika! Thanks for your input! btw… pool play date soon!? 🙂

I had braces as a kid and SO wish i could have done this instead!
Rachel says
Yes, that is the general consensus from my friends who wore traditional braces too!
Alison says
How nice that you can still eat the traditional naughty foods.
Rachel says
Yes 🙂

I went into my ortho’s office wanting invisalign and they talked my into Damon and I regret that decision. My husband and kids will get Invisalign.

I was the queen of broken wires for the years I had braces. These would have been PERFECT for me. I’m so glad that my son will have access to them if (oh who am I kidding – WHEN!) he needs braces!
Rachel says
Yes. I am not sure if my boys will need them *yet* but if they do… invisalign all the way!
Melissa says
I had no idea they are removable! My husband has really been wanting to try this.
Rachel says
Yes. 🙂

Wow. This is quite a giveaway!! I wouldn’t get braces this late in my life, and so far my kids haven’t needed them. However, this is an awesome product from all the reports I’ve heard from others.

I had braces as a child but would like to do Invisalign now. My teeth have moved 🙁
valmg @ Mom Knows It All says
I wish they had this when I was younger. I wore braces for like 4 years.

I feel like we’re twins – I went to the SITS event the day before in Seattle, and I too wanted (and still want, lol) braces AND I like glasses – I have 20/20 vision, but I have a pair of clear lens glasses that I wear sometimes just for the fashion of it. Hahaha!
Sara P. (@SensiblySara) says
I JUST bought a pair of clear lens glasses for that reason! I love ’em!

A lady I know has Invisalign. She is in her mid-twenties and says she is too immature for them. I think she is old enough to decide to be responsible for her teeth, though.
If I had to have braces, Invisalign would be my choice!
Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting says
My daughter’s going to get Invisalign 🙂
Karen Coutu says
I had braces when I was in high school (and glasses) and I would have given anything for clear braces.
Brett Martin says
You WANTED braces and glasses? How hilarious! Invisalign is a GREAT product.
Sarah @ Must Have Mom says
That’s funny you wanted braces. Invisalign is AWESOME!
Kimberly Grabinski says
I actually could have used braces on 2 of my teeth LOL. I call them my fangs and they are crooked enough to have prevented the teeth next to them from growing in all the way.
I never wanted braces but they never told me I needed them either. I do wish these 2 teeth had been straight though.
Eliza Ferree says
Never had it but I have seen them and it is great that they don’t really get noticed. I never would’ve considered eating gum with braces, not even now do I eat it. My kids will need them in the future so this is helpful for me. Thanks for posting.
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
These seem so much better than the old school braces with bands they had when we were kids.
melinda says
my daughter did the traditional braces route and 2 years later there is so much movement. I think we’ll have to do invisalign next
Tiff @ Babes and Kids says
I would have loved to eat all of the naughty foods while having braces. Love that Invisalign allows that.
Cresta says
Invisalign is really a very safe option for obtaining straight teeth in quick time. Also, these braces are invisible and can be easily removed during brushing, flossing and eating.
