Our family loves our smoothies, year round. We make our smoothies with almond milk because there are so many benefits of almond milk! I am thankful that our family does not have any food allergies that would prevent us from enjoying almond milk (or regular milk). We prefer the taste and health benefits from drinking Silk Almond milk. I love making healthy smoothies using almond milk… and rewarding the boys after a long ride with it!
To celebrate Father’s Day, after church we loaded up our monkeys and bikes and headed out for a ride on the trail. It was a beautiful day (sunny and 80s). What a great Daddy my boys have… making sure that their bikes are safe and tires are ready before we head out.
We enjoyed a nice family ride along the trail. Near the end our youngest began breaking down, tears, that he was tired, hot and thirsty. I managed to bribe him to finishand I would make a healthy yummy smoothie when we were done. It was a struggle, but we all finished. Family bike ride on Father’s Day completed.
After our family 4 mile bike ride, we headed to our local Safeway. As a promise (and reward) for our hot mid-afternoon ride… I promised them I would make a yummy smoothie when we got home. We had plans to grill dinner for Father’s Day… as well as my bribe to make a healthy strawberry shake post ride.
The boys ran. Ran. To the back of the store where they knew the Silk Almond milk for our ingredients for smoothies would be. Of course I had to take a photo because they looked like total goof balls pointing it out for me, like I had no clue!
I am sure we were causing a scene. Three wild monkeys mid afternoon on Father’s Day in the grocery store. Yup. Loud. These two goofballs were super excited to grab two of the Silk Almond milk flavors: Protein + Fiber and Almond Coconut Blend.
You can’t miss out on those super nice bakery folks who spy young children and bribe them with cookies to behave for their mommy and daddy. Our lady even had the boys say a pledge that they would do their best! Yes, I am totally okay with bribery when it comes to shopping with young children.
The boys munched on their cookie while we shopped for the rest of our groceries needed for grilling and making our smoothie reward. I wish I was awarded a cookie for keeping my cool and calm while shopping too.
When we got home, the boys played outside while my husband got the grill started. I was inside making and preparing the super yummy strawberry smoothie treat I promised.
I wasn’t sure which Silk Almond blend to use for our afternoon reward… but decided to use the Almond Coconut Blend flavor for our smoothie today. I really like the protein + fiber for my morning smoothies (I will share recipe at another date). Plus coconut is super hydrating so I thought it would be a perfect compliment to our smoothie.
Healthy Sweet Summer Strawberry Smoothie Recipe
1 cup silk almond coconut blend milk + 1 banana + 1 cup strawberries + 1 scoop strawberry shakeology.
I doubled the recipe shared in the pinnable image above and added a whole banana to make it creamier. I mixed the listed ingredients in our Vitamix blender, poured and enjoyed!
The boys (even the biggest Daddy-boy) enjoyed the smoothie. I doubled the batch and had left overs. I decided to freeze the left overs to make smoothie pops for another afternoon treat.
We are a smoothie enjoying family. I love how it tastes, the nutrients in it (high nutrients low calorie), and really enjoy how it compliments my smoothies each day. I like knowing that I am feeding my family quality, healthy, products that also taste good. I am happy that we can enjoy a post bike ride re-fuel with a healthy treat, like our strawberry smoothie.

Freezing the leftover smoothie is such a great idea! I will have to start doing that. So cute that your kids were so excited about almond milk…which is great too! I’ve never tried almond coconut milk but I’ve been dabbling with more coconut recently (flour, flakes), so I’ll definitely have to try this next.
