I love running and exploring new-to-me running trails. I received a pair of Mizuno Wave Kazan trail running shoes as a FitFluential Ambassador to run in, enjoy, review and share my experience with you. If you are a trail runner and-or find yourself running on various surfaces during a single run… you will fall in love with these shoes like I did.
My family and I enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors. We hike and explore at least once a week. I enjoy running multiple times a week, often on different surfaces on a single run (side walk, asphalt, grass, rocks, dirt, trail). I have been on the look out for new trail running shoes, and when these beauties were sent to me, I was to the moon excited!
Upon the arrival I noticed the colors. I have been so used to the brightness of my other road shoes, that these have a darker color. I do like the color. It is perfect for trail running because when (not if) they get dirty, it can help hide the dirt better because of the darker color.
The Wave Kazan is offers the best of both worlds, a lightweight shoe with the protection and stability required for the ultimate trail running experience. While running, I am able to feel the terrain while having my feet protected.
While camping with my family last weekend, I was able to hike and enjoy a trail run in my Wave Kazan. These shoes passed my test as I was able to climb fallen logs, boulders, cross creeks, run on dirt trail as well as paved, and more!
This all terrain shoe allows you glide smoothly over any type of terrain. The detail to the sole of the shoe provides structure, grip, and flexibility as you run over rocks, roots, and more.
I am not kidding when I say that these are my new favorite hiking and trail running shoes. These will also be my go-to running shoes when I am running from my house to the nearby urban trails. I am confident that these shoes will protect my feet as well as give me the freedom and flexibility to enjoy the trails.
I have been given the challenge to #BlazeNewTrails and have enjoyed exploring and finding new-to-me trails to run on. Check out this short video I created showing the various running surfaces I encounter on my daily running route. Out the door straight to the trails in one shoe. Perfect.

Awesome review. I have been on the hunt for a pair of trail shoes but haven’t had any luck. I’ll have to check those out. How is the toe box? Is it roomy?
Rachel says
Awesome. Yes. I find the toe box to be very roomy… but not as roomy as my Altra shoes (those have the biggest toe box of any shoe I have run in).
Rebecca Swenor says
I like the color too. The grips are as unique and I wouldn’t worry about slipping. Very nice review. Thanks for sharing.
Rachel says
You are welcome. 🙂

Those shoes look amazing and I absolutely love your video!!!!!
Rachel says
Thank you. I had an idea in my head… and am not sure if it showed what I was going for (from house to trail… multiple running surfaces style shoe). But I tried. 😉

I’m not a runner but I would love to have these anyways. We love to go on hikes and I would love to walk those trails.
Rachel says
Yes. Although they market these as trail running shoes… I totally plan on using these as my hiking (which I walk) shoes. 🙂
Rachel says
These shoes would be PERFECT for that! 🙂
Deborah Brooks @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
Your pics are beautiful nice review.
Rachel says
Thank you. 🙂
Sheena says
Awesome! I’ve seen a couple reviews on these so far and they all seem to be pretty positive. My current trail shoes are starting to look a little shabby (not to mention they’re about 3 or 4 years old), so it’ll be time for a new pair soon!
Rachel says
Haha. Yes. Time to go shopping. 🙂
Family Travel blogger says
I’ve never heard of these. However I really like how rugged they are, especially the soles.
Hanan says
I’m not a runner, but I do love walking the trails. That one looks absolutely beautiful!!

Great review! I love my Mizuno Wave Riders 🙂 I’m a road runner but I’ll be doing my first trail race this weekend.
Rachel says
Thanks. By the way… way to rock your Endurance Challenge this past weekend! 🙂

Those look really comfortable. Brian needs new shoes. I will have to check out their options in men’s sizes!

I thought I already commented!
I need new trail shoes and the Kazan sounds like a must-try.
Rachel says
Yes. I highly recommend these shoes. 🙂
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
Great review. I too loved the way they tackled different surfaces. They are great!
Rachel says
Thanks. Yes! That was one of my favorite features of these shoes!
Mimi says
Sounds like these would be great trail shoes for my daughters. I know the run in the city, but I’m sure they’d love to go “off roading” in those sneakers! I think that’s a great point on the color and how they hide the dirt!
Shannon Schmid says
Those sneakers look so fantastic and comfy! Love the video 🙂
Kerri O says
LOVE the look of these!

When I was running, I really struggled to find a pair of shoes I felt good in. I love the look of these and especially the all-terrain sole. They look nice!
Raijean says
Those look so rugged but comfortable.

Maybe these would be good for my husband. We have yet to find him a good pair of shoes for PT.

I never thought to try their running shoes. They have been my daughter’s #1 choice for softball cleats for the past 10 years. Guess I’ll have to go take a trip to town now.
Vanessa says
I will have to look into buying a pair of these running shoes for my next set. Do these shoes also come in wide?
Crystal says
Maybe, just maybe, I’d be more motivated to run if I got to run places as pretty as those.
Lynsey @MoscatoMom says
I am a treadmill runner 🙁 Sadly I still can not find shoes that I can run on pavement with that do not give me shin splints. I can run on a treadmill all day – but after just a few minutes on the road I feel like my legs are splitting 🙁
Jen - Life With Levi says
I’m not a trail runner, but I bet these would be great multi purpose shoes for camping trips.
Kerri says
I hear Mizuno’s are the best sneakers for running. Love the look and comfort that they offer while running!
Leah says
I need new shoes but I’m a walker not a runner. Tempted because they are so cute and maybe that will inspire me to pick up the pace. LOL!
Michelle says
Awesome! I have been looking for some good shoes to start walking in.
Liz Mays says
Those are perfect for changing terrain like that. It’s always good to have comfortable and secure footwear no matter the surface.
Shell Feis says
Those look so nice! I love the scenery where you live, if I had that beauty around me I *might* actually go running myself!
Cynthia @ You Signed Up For WHAT?! says
Those look awesome! I really need some trail shoes, and I wear Mizunos for running now – I’ll have to check these out.
