Today I am going to give you the scoop on the polar loop. I am a Polar Ambassador and received the loop to use and track my daily activity. I love fitness trackers and I am a huge fan of Polar products as a whole. I have tried a variety of fitness trackers over the years, but I truly believe that the Polar Loop is the best multifunctional activity tracker on the market.
I have been using my polar loop for a few months. I love that I wear it like a watch and bracelet and I don’t even have to think about it. I don’t have to remember (or in my case forget) to put it on each day. I can sleep in it. I can shower with it. I can run with it. I can swim in it. I can put it on and do my daily activities and forget that it is there!
I like the slim black (with silver accent) design. I am not an arm candy kind of gal… but I love wearing my loop every day. I use the loop not only as my daily activity tracker… but also as my watch.
The only issue I have with my loop is that when I am holding hands with one of my sons (or pushing the stroller or shopping cart) it doesn’t record my steps and movement. However on the flip side, when I am riding my bike… it records the movement from that activity. So I am equally confused on how this magical device works. Even with that issue I still love it.
There are five things that make the polar loop stand apart from traditional activity trackers.
-
You can sync your Polar H7 Bluetooth heart rate monitor with your polar loop. This makes your loop not only your daily activity tracker… but now it can track your calories burned during a workout (run, fitness, Pilates, yoga, your favorite workout!). Wearing a heart rate monitor is a better indication of fitness, calories burned, and perceived effort.
-
It gives you a daily activity goal. It not only tracks steps, miles, calories burned, and the time… it gives you a goal each day to strive to reach. You can check to see what activity you need to do in order to reach your goal: minutes running (jog), minutes walking, minutes standing (up).
-
It is magic. I am not kidding. It is not your standard pedometer where you can swing your arm while standing in place for it to record 345 steps. (Trust me I tried!). There is some magic in the accelerometer recording that knows when you are physically moving. Magic.
-
The polar loop syncs to its own app: Polar Flow. The app is free! This gives you a daily activity report each time you sync your loop.
-
The Polar Flow app gives you a FULL DAYS activity report. It doesn’t just record steps and calories. It tells you when you were the most active and when you were sedentary. It is a great way to see your days activity level.
Check out this video for more information on how the loop works, how you can easily customize the band size for your wrist, how you can use it in training with your health, weight loss and fitness goals… and more!
I love wearing my loop each day. To be honest, I love seeing when the GOAL flashes during the day. It doesn’t always happen before lunch… but when that GOAL happens early… it makes me very happy! I am a goal oriented person and I love having something to work for during my day. A goal to stay active all day long, not just during my workout.
There you have it. My scoop on the polar loop. I love polar products and love this daily activity tracker as I find that it is so much more than just a wrist pedometer like other brands.
Deborah Brooks @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I tried this a few months ago and got kind of frustrated that it didn’t record a lot of my activity. It didn’t record a spin class and also some of my sleep patterns. I gave up! Perhaps it was me?
Amanda K says
I had never heard of the Polar Loops, let alone paid much attention to the wrist trackers. After reading your post, I am really considering purchasing one for me and hubby!
Rebecca Jo says
I wonder why it doesn’t log when you’re holding hands or pushing…
I wonder if the FitBit does that as well. That’s frustrating!
Heather says
I don’t wear an activity tracker, but I have considered getting one recently. I may have to look into the Loop
Xenia @ Thanks, Mail Carrier says
Interesting, I hadn’t heard of the Polar Loop before but I love that it has so many features! I wear my Fitbit but am always intrigued hearing about other activity monitors and what they can do!
Alaina Bullock says
This is the first I have heard of Polar Loop. I would like to find a fitness tracker that records everything I want it to record, and this one sounds like it does! I’ve looked at several, but they don’t do everything I’d like them to. I’ll definitely be looking into this more!
Whitney @ Momma Knows Best says
I have been wanting to try a fitness tracker for a while now! This is the first time I have heard of the polar loop, though. It helps to see your thoughts on it! I have heard about some of the other brands not always tracking correctly when pushing a stroller or shopping cart., too I wonder why that is?
Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry says
I know you have been a fan of Polar for some time now, I love the GOAL lighting up. I would wear that at night and turn off the lights just to see it light up LOL 🙂
Janice says
I totally LOVE how the loop can integrate with a BT HRM and can be worn even in a shower! Does the Polar app integrate with MyFitnessPal for food journalling? If so, then that would be the perfect tool for me! I am VERY picky with what I want an activity tracker to do: Integrate with a scale with BF %, step counting, HRM integration for things like strength workouts, sleep tracking, food journalling, be waterproof and it has to have a long lasting battery… Great review Rachel!
valmg @ Mom Knows It All says
I hadn’t heard of this previously. But in fairness I don’t wear an activity tracker so don’t follow that industry closely.
Julie says
Cool! I’ve never worn a pedometer or anything similar, I would be super interested to have an actual record of how much I move in a day!
Nicole says
OK, this is pretty cool. I have been in the market for a fitness band and I definitely want to consider this one further.
Larisa @0to26point2 says
I love the functions of the loop, except the swimming exempt part. lol. great review:)
HilLesha says
I have never heard of Polar Loop, but your post has piqued my interest!
Crystal says
I don’t wear any kind of activity tracker, but I really should start. With all of my goals, exercise included, I need a plan & need to be accountable. This sounds like a magical way to do that.
Jennifer @ Mom Spotted says
I haven’t heard of it! i love having my Polar heart monitor when I’m out on the trails! I’d love this too! Thanks for the info!
Lynsey @MoscatoMom says
Ohhh I have not seen this one! I have a MOOV on the way – I am hoping it is as awesome as they say it is LOL
Melissa says
This looks awesome. I love that it says goal – that would definitely give me motivation!
Marla Zickefoose says
I’m always on the lookout for a new fitness app! I will check this out for sure!
Liz Mays says
What? I didn’t know other trackers recorded arm movements as steps. Not cool. This is much better.
Shell Feis says
I have heard of the Polar Loop, but I honestly had no clue how it worked or compared. I like that it gives you goals and keeps track of standing up. That’s different.
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
I’ve never worn any kind of wearable but am intrigued just to see what kind of numbers I’ll get. That’s so weird about the hand holding thing.
CARLA says
I LOVE LOVE LOVE MINE all thanks to you.
Haley @ Running with diapers says
I really need to get one of these things after the baby is born. I have been meaning to make the investment, but things just keep popping up. This will be the perfect motivator for loosing the baby weight.
Kelly says
I had a jawbone, but I used it mostly to track sleep. Mostly because unless I was running it didn’t track any other fitness classes I was taking.
Mellisa says
What great information. I had never heard of Polar Loop.
Kimberly Grabinski says
I’ve seen this on your wrist in some of your photos, I totally want one!
Kathleen says
I have never heard of the Polar Loop before, sounds like a great little device. How weird though that it will not count steps when pushing a stroller, but it does when riding a bike. Have you tried putting it on your ankle when you push the stroller.
Karen Coutu says
How cool is that? I love that message telling you when you’ve made your goal. I’ll have to tell my husband about this tracker!
Digna D. says
I have yet to try a fitness tracker. I have been wanting to really badly but afraid it will be time consuming. I do like that it gives you a daily goal.
Yvonne says
I so need a new gps and would a fit tracker .. Thanks fir sharing Rachel! Love the GOAL in red .. So motivating!
Denine, from WeKnowStuff says
The fact that is lights up goal when you have reached it is such a motivator and kind of like getting a pat on the back for a job well done. Also the fact that it gives you a goal to reach instead of you picking one is really there to push you that little bit extra. Love it!
Lucie Palka says
I was doing some online research on activity trackers and this one didn’t come up. I was leaning towards the Nike Fuel Band. Did you try others?
