Let the games begin! Oh the adventure and excitement of change is upon us. Learning the art of balance, juggling, and fitting in fitness, proper nutrition, homeschooling three little brains, all while solo parenting is going to be key this week. Making sure I fit in some Mommy “Me time” is really going to be a priority for me.
My husband started his job back in the Midwest today. Yay! That praise is followed by a quick and heavy sigh as I sit here in Sacramento typing away at my keyboard. We still need to pack up the house, resume homeschooling lessons, and life goes on until we (the boys and I) pack up to join him.
Too bad I can’t just tie up the children and head out for a solo run, solo grocery shopping trip, solo shower… solo anything. I kid. I kid. Kind of.
Having a plan in place and a set routine helps me (and the boys) during our day. I love creating and writing out my fitness and nutrition plans for the week. It may not always go as planned… but at least I have something to use as a guide.
I am in the downward taper of training for the San Jose Rock n Roll half marathon. I am excited to be running this race again… totally for fun, not for time. Beyond this upcoming half marathon, I am planning to resume my endurance training for another spring marathon.
Fitness & Movement Plan
Monday: 5 miles while pushing T in the jogger & afternoon boot camp (or strength training)
Tuesday: 2-3 easy miles & afternoon boot camp
Wednesday: 5 miles while pushing T in the jogger & PiYo
Thursday: 2-3 easy miles with the boys & afternoon boot camp
Friday: hiking and exploring a local farm with the boys
Saturday: Try to sneak out for a quick solo run
For my meal plan this week, I am keeping it simple. I am attempting to restart the 21 Day Fix nutrition plan… while keeping it loose and flexible. I want to add more protein and vegetables to my day. I tend to eat the same thing each day (except for dinner) so this is just a general plan for grocery shopping purposes.
Nutrition Plan
Breakfast:
Vegan Chocolate Peanut butter Shakeology
Lunch
Baked potato loaded with broccoli, cheese, and chicken
Turkey Tortilla Roll Up
Salad topped with chicken
Tuna Salad in an avocado boat
Snacks:
Carrots and Hummus
Fruit
Turkey Jerky
Dinner:
Green salad w/chicken
Soup & Salad
Grilled chicken w/asparagus & brown rice
Baked potato loaded with broccoli, cheese and chicken
Even though I have my week planned out for activities, fitness and nutrition… I am expecting many interruptions to the plan. I am learning to be flexible and to know that these unexpected inconveniences are a part of life. I am choosing to be positive and will strive to continue moving forward.

I wish I could plan my workouts and meals for the week but I have such a crazy schedule with traveling all the time it is hard to do that. Even though they are not planned, I manage to find a way to get them in anyway.

It really is hard when it is just you! Do you have a good stroller that they can both fit in while you run? I put my youngest in my Joovy 360 and the older boys use bikes or scooters. I like your idea of just tying them up too though 😉

I have definitely been slacking on both my workouts and my eating habits, mainly due to laziness and time. At least I’m still hitting the gym a few times a week and I plan to tighten things back up very soon!
