Hi friends. I am going to share with you a bit of my truth and raw self today. To say that I am struggling with the art of juggling and balance lately… would be an understatement. Life is uncertain. The move is pending. Homeschooling isn’t easy. Finding time to run or be alone is non existent. I am struggling to find my best yes.
Knowing a little about me, mama needs to run… and/or hang out in nature to regroup and feel refreshed. Yes, this past weekend I had an amazing girl weekend goofing off around the streets of San Jose. However, it is during those busy moments during the week… where I fail and gasp for air.
I struggle and need to find my best yes.
Yesterday, I needed to run. I didn’t want to run on the treadmill. I wanted to run alone. To pound out my thoughts. To pray. To cry out my frustrations. To just be alone.
It didn’t happen. I opted for my second best choice to push the T-man in the jogger on the trail. He wanted to go to the gym… Mama won. The American River Trail it was. Fresh air. Movement. Outdoors. Running.
It was a slow and steady run. We both felt better after the run. Even though I didn’t necessarily have time to drive to the city to run that particular trail. I knew in my heart that I needed to say yes to that opportunity to run outdoors… with only one child.
On our way back home to run errands, the little man decided to say yes to taking a cat nap. While he napped, I parked in the shade and read the first two chapters of The Best Yes. I seriously think that Lysa Terkeurst was writing the book jut for me. It is so good!
Are you feeling a little overwhelmed and a lot worn out? Are you drowning in the regrets of too many commitments? Do you dread saying yes but feel powerless to say no?Do you hope there is more to life than your to-do list? The Best Yes helps you with making wise decisions in the midst of endless demands. I am looking forward to learning about and finding My Best Yes.
Life is busy. My kids are busy. The days are going by quickly and time flies! I don’t want to look back upon my day, week, LIFE and wish I said NO more… so I could REALLY live with my best YES.
Even though I love my friends, making play dates, and exploring fun new things; I am slowing down and really considering my decisions on activities and commitments. When I say YES, I want to mean it.
I am looking forward to sharing my opinion and review of this book… and how I apply it to my life.

Ah yes!! I have always had a hard time saying no and frequently take on more than I should have. Miraculously, it all gets done somehow!

You’re reading my mind woman! I don’t know how you homeschool. Sometimes the only chance I get to pound the pavement is when the boys are both in school. And I like you desperately need the release and nature time to be a whole person. I hope that you find some time for you and saying YES to the important things. I find anytime there is a touch of uncertainty I get anxious and need those runs.

I am sooo right there with you, mama. Finding the time to accomplish anything is getting harder and harder, and I have no recollection of the last time I read a book or was just alone without a work goal of some sort. Hope we can both find some more ways to say no so that those yes answers mean more! 🙂

We all have to decide what to devote our time to, and yes, I have to say “No” to a number of things so we can squeeze in the important stuff.

I totally get where you’re coming from. I feel that way often, probably more than I should. I’ll definitely check this out.

I go through seasons where I’m better at saying no than others. I feel like I’m saying yes too often right now and I’m feeling it this week. I still have several weeks of crazy before I can slow down again, so I will focus on saying no a bit more. 🙂

I’m reading that book right now & feel like it was written just for me too 🙂

This post will reach so many who feel the same way! I’m doing things today that were meant to be done 2 weeks ago and I’m telling myself “better late than never.” You have to find the balance and to find your best yes, but I do say NO more than I ever did and it’s helped my sanity a lot. I have 3 very active in activities kids so I have to make time for me too sometimes!

I am learning and becoming better with saying no. You’re so right by the fact saying no to the smaller things open up doors saying yes to bigger and more important events in your life.

It’s important to say yes to the right things and make them count. It sounds like you needed that run!

It’s so difficult to balance it all… I realized I couldn’t do everything or I definitely can do everything well. I do the best I can. It’s all I can do.

I think I need to get a copy of this book. I say yes too often, and I know many times it’s not a good decision for me OR who I’m saying yes too! I need to learn how to say no once in a while and not feel guilty about it.

I have learned to say “no”. It’s not always easy to do, especially when I always used to say “yes” to everything.

I’m getting much, much better at saying no to things. I try to just say yes to the things that will really fulfill me.
