Hi friends. Our family is quickly settling into our new home in the Kansas City area. We are going through boxes, attempting to get organized, and realizing that a LOT of items we need are still in transit on the big truck. If anything, this move is teaching me how to be flexible and evaluate what items we really need.
No couch? No problem. Thank goodness we had our camp chairs in the camp trailer… compromise at its finest.
My fitness lately has been minimal. Mama needs to run. I am moving all.day.long by cleaning (yes, cleaning a rental that was supposed to be clean when you move in is no fun), carrying boxes and tinkering around the house.
The Show-Me-State did not disappoint. I forgot how friendly the mid-west is!
When we pulled in with the U-Haul we were greeted by many kids who wanted to meet the boys, 10+ teenagers who were eager to help us unload (and earn service hours), and parents who were filled with great information about the area.
The boys are adjusting quickly. Our neighborhood is super friendly. Our neighborhood is filled with a bunch of kids (lots of boys!) who play outside a lot and were eager to play with and meet my boys. In the short few days we have been here, P has already made a “best friend” and the boys have quickly found a pack of boys to dig in the dirt with.
One of the many things I am enjoying about living in the Kansas City area is that there are HILLS for me to run on. No more flat land running in the valley of California. Now I just need to figure out what to wear for this cooler running climate.
I am also enjoying the rural feel of this small town nestled north of the city. Farm land. Trees! People holding the door open for you. SUPER friendly people.
Although I must admit, I think my favorite thing about being back in Missouri is being closeR to family. My husband and I were raised in this state, and my family is all residing in mid-MO. Last weekend, we were able to get everyone together for the first time in almost 8 years!! Family… memories… this is the great adventure that I am most looking forward to.
We are adjusting slowly but surely. It has been nice and refreshing unplugging the past week… but I am excited to resume journaling our many new adventures here in Kansas City.
Stay tuned… I am excited to continue sharing our many adventures as I run through life… in Kansas City… one day at a time. Many changes are coming. I am always running for faith, family, fitness, food and always fun.

You’re absolutely adorable! I just completed my first marathon in October in Portland, and am also a mother of 3 (twin boys that are 9, and a crazy girl that is 3) and I often have to take Autumn on runs with me. You’re definitely an inspiration- and I can very much identify with your love for running and your love for Christ! Enjoy settling into your new place- and continue to spread Jesus’ love in your posts!
Much love- and running with you!
