Happy first Monday in 2015! Did you set any goals for the year? How are you doing with them? Keep trucking on and don’t give up. Set a plan and commit to making it happen. I have a few goals I am thinking about working towards in 2015… I just haven’t officially shared them with anyone.
There is something about telling someone about your goals that make it real. Ha! Maybe I will share in the coming weeks.
I am 15 Weeks from the Boston Marathon and I am still trying to narrow down a training plan. I know I need to have a plan that incorporates strength training and speed work… otherwise I get lazy and just enjoy running the long slow runs every time.
This is why I love the accountability and encouragement from this link up I do each week with Janice, Fitness Cheerleader. It is a place where we can share our plans (successes and failures) and have people to pick us up and encourage us to keep moving forward.
Last Week’s Fitness Plan (What I did):
Monday: PureForm PFT strength
Tuesday: Cardio & Core + 5.5 Speed work
Wednesday: active rest
Thursday: active rest
Friday: PureForm PFT strength
Saturday: Solo 9.75 mile run
Sunday: active rest
This Week’s Fitness Plan (What I plan to do):
Monday: PureForm PFT strength
Tuesday: 3 easy miles
Wednesday: PureForm PFT strength + 5 tempo (~15/20/15)
Thursday: active rest
Friday: PureForm PFT strength
Saturday: run with friends 6-9 miles
Sunday: active rest
Life here lately is exciting, busy, and honestly… full of chaos. We are moving in 17 days… yet we are not sure exactly where! We have yet to hear confirmation with the property management company regarding the house we are wanting to rent. Yikes! For now we are packing, purging, cleaning, and moving forward anyway. Ha! We are moving somewhere in less than 3 weeks! Oh what an adventure!
Regarding planning, I am such a planner… not necessarily only in the fitness goals, but with daily goals as well. I am thankful for my Erin Condren Life Planner and paper/pencil. I would be lost without my daily to do list! I love writing things down and crossing them off!
Training for a spring marathon, moving cross country, parenting three boys, and enjoying life is the current season filled with adventures. Oh boy!
How are you doing with your fitness goals for 2015? Are you making a plan to reach those goals?
RFC says
OOOOOH I didn’t know you were running Boston this year, how exciting! I can’t wait to follow your training! I didn’t make any 2015 resolutions per-se, but I am trying to make each day better than the last. So far, so good!
Rachel says
Thank you. I am with you, I haven’t necessarily made any resolutions (I always have goals that are never ending). I love that you are “trying to make each day better than the last”. That is awesome!
Elle says
I am a LISTMAKER too. Love crossing off things from a list. Happy 2015!
Rachel says
Yes! Me too! There is a sense of accomplishment when I can cross things off! Yay!
Cat @ Breakfast to Bed says
I’m supposed to be going vegan until dinner.
This was the worst idea ever.
Rachel says
Haha! That is hilarious!
I find that my goal of going “sugar free” is great until the kids start screaming and fighting… then I dive into the sweets. 😉
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
Wow moving in 2 weeks and not sure where and training for Boston? That’s crazy! I am stressed for you 🙂
Rachel says
Haha… thanks. I am praying that it will all settle down once we move and life will be uneventful for a while. 😉
AlexandraFunFit says
No, I don’t do goals. I just keep plugging along in the direction I am headed. I do mini-goals and big goals throughout the year. This year I want to take care of my bad knee.
Rachel says
I love that you keep plugging along in the direction you are headed… with mini goals and a big goal throughout the year. LOVE that! And yes… take care of that knee!
Stephanie (@FitMomTraining) says
lol, I’ll let you know my fitness goals if I ever get around to making any. At the rate I’m going, they might end up being 2016 goals 😉
Rachel says
Haha! I feel you on that goal making procrastination! 😉
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Boston sounds super exciting!!! I don’t know if I have a marathon in me just yet but it would be so cool just to spectate such an iconic race!
Rachel says
Yes. It was a goal of mine to even just CHEER the Boston Marathon… so when I got the opportunity to RUN it… I jumped at the chance 🙂
Elena says
I am definitely working on my 2015 goals….I need to narrow them down still (and better yet, I need to reflect on 2014 first!). Good luck with the move–what an adventure!
Rachel says
Thank you!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
I love making lists and having things planned out on paper. My agenda got delayed in the mail and I’m just dying waiting for it to arrive!
I’m really trying to work on speed work too because my last training was definitely all just long slow runs.
Rachel says
Yes, I found myself running all ‘slow and steady’ the past year… and sadly my speed declined. Now I need to work on increasing my speed again. Oh what a cycle.
Kerri Olkjer says
I’m still so excited you’re running Boston! Total dream. I love my to-do lists too. I was just telling hubby that I’d forgotten to add some things to my list and had completed them last weekend. Total bummer to not get to cross them off, LOL.
Rachel says
Haha! I have been known to ADD those events to my list even after I accomplished them. LOL
Angelena Marie says
Thanks for the link up! We are starting one this Wednesday, we would love to have you link up!
It looks like you have some great workouts planned. I love having mine all planned out too, it really helps keep me on track during the week. I love your planner! I have been thinking about getting one to get myself organized!
Rachel says
Oh fun! Thanks for letting me know. I will have to check it out tomorrow.
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
I have serious plans to meet my goals. I am putting them in motion. I’ll participate in the link up tomorrow when my post publishes sharing those plans. What an exciting time for you and your family. I can’t lie – I would be pulling out my hair if I did not know where I was gonna live in a few short weeks.
Rachel says
Yes. Hair dyed to cover the gray. Hair pulled (hense why you rarely see any HEAD photos of me lately) j/k. It is a bit tense/stressful here… but I am confident it will all work out.
MCM Mama says
I make lists all the time. I have lots of spiral notebooks that I’m constantly writing stuff in.
I have a marathon in early May and haven’t exactly got my plan nailed down yet. Need to get on that.
Rachel says
Finding and sticking to a plan is half the battle (atleast for me). 😉
Sandra Laflamme says
I am so excited to be following your Boston Marathon journey. A small part of me is wishing I could race it again this year but instead I will live vicariously through you! Can’t wait to hear which training plan you pick!
Rachel says
Thank you! I will be sure to share my training adventures on here each week. 🙂
Stephanie says
My immediate goal is to lose the five or so pounds I gained since October and just up my over all fitness level. I am tired of starting and stopping so this is my year to get my consistency back. Good lick with your move. I will be praying everything goes smoothly for you and your family!
Rachel says
You got this! And thank you SO much for your prayers (they are always needed). 🙂
Christine @ Love, Life, Surf says
That’s a lot on your plate! I prefer to choose a word to focus on for the year. Of course I have things that I want to accomplish throughout the year but that word helps me to focus on the process of moving forward to those goals. I’m totally a list maker and planner and write everything down.
Rachel says
I love the word focus you chose. I need to narrow mine down and make it a priority. 🙂
Toni says
Looks like a great week! Having a plan is always a good way to stay on track! I have the same 2 planners! I love electronics, but there is something about writing down your plans and thoughts that just translate to any app I have found!
Rachel says
Yes! Yes! Yes! I love technology… but if I put an event in my phone… I miss it. On paper/planner… I can see it and I will remember it. 🙂
Larisa Dixon (@0to26point2) says
AHHHH! I wish I was a planner. Im like a last minute get it done type of person. It works MOST of the time lol! you will do great in Boston.
Michael Gregory II says
Great post! I love your perspective of motivation because it is a persistent habit that makes it work. Running could be difficult for anyone to start and it’s great to see you preparing for the Marathon. It’s known that motivation is the initial start-up to do anything we desire and creating a habit is what keeps us on track. So keep up with your practice and you’ll get to where you want to be.
