Less than three days before Boston! Three! I am to the moon excited and beyond blessed to be able to take part and run this epic race. I do not feel worthy to run the same course that thousands have run before me… and worked so hard to qualify to run! Blessed, humbled and honored is truly how I feel with regards to Boston.
Today the T-man and I headed out to a new-to-us trail to do one final run before Boston. The trail was relatively flat with lots of exciting things to see. We saw two snakes, lots of flowers, bugs, and kids cleaning up the creek. It was an exciting day on the trail!
It was also a very warm day on the trail. It was in the upper 70’s before lunch (76). I know that come Patriots Day it won’t be that temperature… but they are calling for rain. SO, I guess the heat and humidity is good preparation as any!
My run was more of a shake out run. I kept things at an easy pace. I didn’t push things too hard. We stopped to smell the flowers (okay, we did stop to blow the white puffy dandelions along the trail a few times). Who knows what race day will bring!
You know it was a warm run when the T-man takes off his shirt in the car. Ha! Ready or not… Boston… I am coming for you.. tomorrow!
My race day goals for Boston are simple… I am running the 26.2 miles as a victory lap. I can run. I am healthy. I am running the race of a lifetime! My bucket list race.
-
Enjoy EVERY stinkin’ mile.
-
Finish the race with a smile on my face.
-
Run for the love of running… don’t be concerned with pace or time. Enjoy the moment.
-
Take pictures. Take video. Remember this race.
-
Not finish last. Ha! How is that for honest truth about my goal time!!?
I will be updating on my social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter over the next few days as I explore (and run) Boston. I would love for you to cheer me on and send kind wishes! Have a fantastic weekend!! I look forward to filling ya’ll in on my experience next week!
