Again, I am really REALLY enjoying this book and learning alot about myself as a person… and as a parent.
Here are the seven powers for self-control as listed in her book:
1. The power of Attention: What you focus on, you get more of.
2. The Power of Love: See the best in one another.
3. The Power of Acceptance: The moment is as it is.
4. The Power of Perception: No one can make you angry with-out your permission.
5. The Power of Intention: Conflict is an opportunity to teach.
6. The Power of Free Will: The only person you can make change is yourself.
7. The Power of Unity: Focus on connecting instead of trying to be “special.”
I am hopeful that through the exercises in the book and mind-shift I will transform my thinking from fear and anger to love. I want to continue to build a loving relationship with my children (spouse, family and friends, etc…). So many of us (ME!) have given up connecting with others as the result of our failed attempts to control them. It is time to change… and the time is now.
As I mentioned before… this is a journey through motherhood… a marathon of sorts… not a sprint or a quick fix. 🙂
Weighting Around says
I just love that photo of you and the kids! What adorable children.
I need to harness my powers of self-control. They seemed to have slipped away a bit. I guess that would be the free will.
