Being a mom is hard work… add to that all the responsibilities attached to motherhood. Laundry to fold, meals to cook, bills to pay, minds to mold; it is hard to be a good example. Especially when those little ones know JUST the right buttons to push to get under your (my) skin.
The best way to stay positive and be a good example for our children is to plug in to the Word.
The analogy of the vine and the branches is a powerful picture of Christ and his followers. Is it the branch’s job to create the fruit and make it grow?
No.
The branch simply stays attached to the vine and receives the nourishment the vine brings. Detached from the vine, the branch cannot bear fruit. As it stays connected to the vine day by day, the fruit begins to grow naturally.
We all have done things that we regret. Thank goodness that God is a forgiving God and He “redeems {our} life from the pit and crowns {us} with love and compassion (psalm 103:4). He forgives us, renews us, and still uses us, despite our mistakes.
Our examples should be like a beacon of light, leading our kids down the road of godly living. As our lights shine for Christ, may our children see our good deeds and praise the Lord with their words and with their lives.
How can you live as a good example in your home?
Stay attached to the vine. Abide in Christ. Continue in him; keep following him; remain in him. Stay close. Live with him.
Remember, without him you can do nothing. We need to plug in and get recharged.
