Motherhood is a MOMumental task that many mothers do not take lightly. I know that I find myself reading, researching, PRAYING, and searching for the latest tips and tricks to be the best mom of the best behaved kids. Oh how I have failed in my efforts.
I was sent a copy of Jennifer Grant’s latest book, MOMumental to read, review and enjoy. Oh my how I could relate to her journey as a mom. She candidly shares her adventures in the messy art of raising a family.
Notice I (and she on the cover) did not say the perfect parenting book or how to get perfect children or how to be it and do it all!
I read through this book quickly. I laughed out loud. I took notes. This book spoke to me as a mom who is doing her best to raise a family… and doing a messy job of it… but enjoying the journey.
If you are a busy mom who is wanting a little Christian humor from a fellow frazzled Mama, you should read this book. Jennifer shares stories from her experience raising her children (both good and bad experiences). You will find relief knowing that you are not alone… and perhaps even at times chuckle at her missteps thanking God that you aren’t that bad.
Adventures in the Messy Art of Raising a Family
One mom’s humorous and candid memoir shows would-be supermoms how to create a realistically balanced family life without losing their minds.
A longtime former writer for the Chicago Sun-Times and now a columnist for the Chicago Tribune, Jennifer Grant is no stranger to the common reader. MOMumental is a foray into the enormously amusing, creative, and taxing process of raising a family and a starkly honest memoir that mothers everywhere can identify with. With narrative that is chock-full of humorous, poignant stories drawn from her everyday adventures as a mother and wife, Grant presents an entertaining and inspirational book that will give readers uncommon insights about being an intentional parent.
Disclosure: No compensation was received. I was sent this book to read, enjoy and review.

Hi Rachel, thanks for sharing. Like you I can relate to being a mother and never feeling that I’m getting it quite right but hey most of the time I’m having fun and it appears so are my girls 🙂 I might still need a copy of this book though, for reassurance on the not so great days, that I’m not alone in my efforts.

I am a new mom, with a three months old and my head is already filled with what I am supposed to do to bring up my kid in the right way. Books like this will be of great help. I will make sure I get it.
