Growing up, my family would take a sibling photo of my sisters and I sitting on Phil the Gorilla at the STL Zoo. You can see the progression as we age (albeit awkwardly while straddling a massive bronze statue) in each photo.
Continuing on that tradition, my husband and I have made it a point to have our boys photographed sitting (or near) the bronzed gorilla, Phil, each time we visit the STL Zoo.
By the time we got around to the monkeys and Phil, it was mid afternoon. Very hot. The boys were exhausted and hot. The bronze statue, Phil, was very hot. The photo op of the boys riding the statue while smiling and in good moods didn’t necessarily happen. BUT the photo did happen. Even though one little monkey was almost passed out.
