This past weekend I was blessed to run in the Nike Women’s Marathon. It was an amazing experience. One that I will never forget. Over the next few days I will be recapping my adventure from this fun-filled weekend.
Yesterday, I briefly touched on my pre-race, big city, expo experience. Today I am going to talk about some new friends I met and made this past weekend!
A few months ago, I applied to run this race with a group of girlfriends through the regular lottery system. Our group was not chosen. Major Bummer!
Then out of the blue, around 8 weeks ago, I was chosen to represent FitFluential and Yurbuds to run this race. Super Excited!
Because of the spur of the moment bid to run this race, I did not have anywhere to stay. I did not plan ahead. I was not going to pay $400 a night for just myself to stay in a hotel room.
Thankfully, some good friends from my church in my old town (where I recently moved from), say my desperate cry of help and offered to let me crash with them. They were running the race too!!
I am so thankful that they opened their hearts and hotel room to share one night of the fun-filled weekend with me. They are beautiful (inside and out) women and we had a blast. I left shortly after the race on Sunday and they stayed in the city one more night. Sans kiddos and husbands. I can only imagine the fun and mischief they had!! Good times.
Saturday night, Pavement Runner, set up a FitFluential get together pre-race dinner at a local restaurant. The Italian cuisine was fantastic and the conversation was flowing. My only regret was that I wasn’t able to get to know everyone that was there. I guess that is one of the biggest downfalls of dining with such a large group of amazing people!
The photo above is of the fantastic bloggers who I dined with (clockwise from the far left): Alexandra, Tiffany, Meg, Linz, Gia, Kristin, Brian, Kelly, Melissa, Janene, and me!
It is kind of surreal to meet other bloggers in real life. I know them so well by their social media personality, and then meeting them face to face… I was star struck!!
It is always fun to hang out with and meet new fun friends! Thank you for hanging out with me last weekend new and old friends!
Stay tuned because I haven’t even gotten to the best part of my Nike Women’s Marathon Weekend race recap. The Race!! The Yurbuds Review!! and more!!
