I am Italian. Growing up, our family gatherings were loud, full of love, and always had amazing pasta dishes. Growing up most of my family lived in St. Louis, MO. It wasn’t a holiday get together without serving mostaccioli. Yum.
There was always delicious pasta dishes and desserts on the buffet table. We loved to eat!
It has been years since I have eaten, let alone made, mostaccioli. When Bertolli approached me and asked me to create a recipe to share that was Tuscan Inspired, I knew just what to share. I visited my local Kroger store as a part of the Taste of Italy program to pick up the ingredients for my meal.
We have established that I love all Italian food and love my heritage. Kroger has partnered with Bertolli(R) with a ‘Taste of Italy’ program in stores from September 23rd through October 11th. The Kroger sponsored Taste of Italy program® offers shoppers a simple and delicious way to use the classic Bertolli® taste that you love to a range of culinary applications. Give yourself, your family, and your friends the delicious, Tuscan-inspired taste that they have been craving.

I was craving mostaccioli. I decided to embrace a Tuscan Inspired sauce that is great for giving a twist to a classic dish or for trying new recipes. I was doing both! I was super excited to attempt the recipe and make it for my family using Bertolli sauce, for our own taste of Italy at home.
My mostaccioli bake recipe is super easy to make. It was a huge hit with all of my boys, even my son who claims that he is “allergic to noodles”. He ate multiple servings! I think I can say without a doubt, my family enjoyed this meal and we all look forward to me making it again.
Baked Mostaccioli
1 1/2 lb beef (I used 1 lb italian sausage & 1/2 lb beef)
1 jar Bertolli Sauce (you can get creative with your seasoning/flavor)
2 cups cottage (or ricotta) cheese
1 package of whole wheat Mostaccioli (or penne) noodles
2 cups mozzarella cheese (save 1 cup for the topping)
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Spoon ingredients in a large 8×12 baking dish.
Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top
Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted
